Here is the ultimate in tin litho dollhouses--The MARX Bomb Shelter House. It is also known as the Marx Colonial with fall-out shelter in the Sears 1962 catalogue. Without a doubt the rarest of all Marx doll houses, this house was produced in 1962 and in limited quantities. It was inspired by President John F. Kennedy's appeal to the citizens of the U.S. to be ready for nuclear war if the Cold War with Russia should take a turn for the worst. The house did not sell well and is now almost impossible to find. This house has the attached breezeway and the rumpus room but in place of a garage or utility room it has this great bomb shelter ! It is marx dollhouse no 4073. It is large measuring approximately 38" x 9" x 15 1/2" This house is in nice condition and looks to have all of it's tabs. There is very little rusting and very little scuffing. The wear is mostly seen around the bottom of the base which was caused by moving it around for a number of years. It is lacking a chimney and is sometimes seen with a cupola. It also originally had a " dutch door" which has been lost over the years. These Marx parts can be found on ebay if you need them. There is a sheer curtain in the bay window that may have been added-it can be easily removed. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE PHOTOS FOR MORE DETAIL AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE. I HAVE LOTS OF VINTAGE DOLLHOUSE FURNITURE THAT I WILL BE LISTING SO PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT MY OTHER AUCTIONS. Check out my other items !
